Discord utility bot - Revision 2026.10
HEX.
iamastupidbot.com
Fixes the links Discord refuses to embed, transcribes voice notes, summarizes YouTube videos, previews marketplace listings, looks up Rotten Tomatoes scores and movie showtimes, keeps spam out with AutoMod and counts who talks the most. Named for the six-sided head. Hosted at a domain that sets expectations low.
Now running in Discord servers with a combined 12,000+ members, and still growing as word spreads.

What it actually does
Most of Hex runs without anybody typing anything. Paste a link and it handles the link. The Automatic items below need no command at all - server moderators can switch any of them off per channel or per role.
-
Link repair
AutomaticX, Instagram and Facebook links that show up in Discord as a bare URL get replaced with a version that actually embeds. Hex reposts the corrected message under your name and removes the original - but only when it can reproduce the whole message, and only when Discord lets it delete. If either fails, it rolls its own post back and leaves yours alone. Moderators can switch off each site separately, or all of it with
/commands disable linkfix. Instagram previews come from a chain of preview providers: the one that last worked goes first and failing ones cool down, so one dead service does not take the feature with it./instagram statusshows the current order. -
Video reposting
AutomaticTikTok, Reddit and public Facebook videos are downloaded and re-uploaded as a native Discord attachment, so they play inline instead of sending everyone to an app. Oversized files are skipped with a note rather than silently dropped. TikTok and Reddit reposts each have their own off switch.
-
Voice notes to text
AutomaticDiscord voice messages get transcribed and posted as readable text under the original audio. Useful in channels where people cannot listen, and for anyone who would simply rather read.
-
YouTube summaries
Automatic /yt-sumHex pulls a video's captions and summarizes them. It works from the transcript the video already publishes, so it summarizes what was said - not what the thumbnail promised.
-
Marketplace previews
AutomaticeBay, Chrono24, AliExpress, Buyee and Facebook Marketplace links expand into a tile with price, condition, time remaining and a browsable photo carousel. Reddit and Instagram galleries get the same treatment.
-
Hex AI
Automatic /hex askMention
@Hexor reply to him and he answers, with short-lived conversation memory so follow-ups make sense. A conversation only continues for the people who were in it, in the channel where it started. Attach a screenshot and he reads it. Moderators can pin this to specific channels so it does not leak into the serious ones, and per-user and per-server rate limits stop one person monopolising him. He also respects your AutoMod settings: he will not answer a message AutoMod flagged, and any word on your blocked list is masked in his own replies too. -
Your own AI account
/aikeyHex AI can run on your account instead of the operator's: link an OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or self-hosted (OpenAI-compatible) key with
/aikey linkor on the AI accounts page, and your chats are billed to it anywhere Hex is. A server can link one account for everyone in it, with a per-member daily cap. Keys are stored encrypted and never shown again;/aikey statussays which account pays for you where you are standing. -
Hex reads your rules
/hex rulesHex AI picks up your server's rules channel and answers in line with it, so the same bot behaves differently in a strict server than a loose one. It finds a channel named rules, guidelines or conduct on its own, or you can point it at a specific one.
/hex rulesshows exactly which rules it is following and reloads them after you make an edit. -
AutoMod
Automatic /automodTwenty-one rules a server tunes for itself: floods, repeated messages, mass mentions, @everyone attempts, invites, blocked words, your own pattern rules, link allow and deny lists with phishing and lookalike-domain detection, attachments, stickers, walls of text, zalgo, spoilers, caps, emoji, and - where the host allows it - new accounts, raids and a name filter. Each rule picks its own response (log, delete, quarantine, timeout, kick or ban) and its own strike weight; strikes escalate on a ladder you set, and timeouts, bans and quarantines can be temporary. Members get a DM with the reason and an Appeal button that lands in a channel of your choice. Lockdown slows every channel and pauses invites for a while; busy channels can get automatic slowmode. An optional AI review classifies borderline messages on an account the server chooses. It starts in monitor mode, which only logs, so you can read what it would have done first.
/automod testchecks text without posting it, settings have a history with rollback and export/import, and all of it is also on the Moderation page of the web panel. -
Moderator toolkit
/modManual moderation that writes the same case file: warn, timeout, kick, ban, softban, quarantine, notes other moderators can see, bulk purge with filters, slowmode, lockdown, a member's full history, and replies to appeals by DM. Right-click any message for Mod: delete + warn or Mod: report to log. Each action needs the matching Discord permission; a server can hand the warn, note, purge and history commands to a moderator role without Manage Messages.
-
Movie and TV scores
Automatic /rt !rtType
!rt the matrixor use/rt movie(with title suggestions as you type) and Hex answers with the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and Popcornmeter, review counts, the critics consensus, genre, runtime, rating, cast and a button to the page. Add a year like(1999)to pick between remakes, start withtvfor a show, or just paste a rottentomatoes.com link and the card appears on its own. When a title has several matches, a menu lets you switch without typing it again. Where the operator has an OMDb key the card also shows IMDb and Metacritic numbers. -
Movie showtimes
/movies/movies timeslists what is playing near a ZIP code, today or on another day, and can narrow it to one movie or one theater. Showings that already started are left out, so the list is only things you can still make./movies theaterslists the cinemas nearby, and/movies homesaves your ZIP code so you never have to type it again. Want to check without the whole channel seeing? Ask for a private reply. -
Weather and radar
/weatherCurrent conditions, feels-like, wind, dew point, UV and a five-day forecast, plus a live Xweather radar image rendered right into the embed. Fahrenheit or Celsius.
-
Deal board
/dealsMembers post deals with a required source link. Hex generates a thumbnail, expires the listing on a schedule and makes the whole board searchable by title, store or source.
-
RSS broadcasts
/rssSubscribe any RSS or Atom feed to a channel. Hex polls on a schedule, posts only new entries and backs off when a feed starts failing. Private-network addresses are refused at connect time, so a feed URL cannot be used to probe the host.
-
Events with RSVPs
/eventMembers submit events privately through a DM wizard. Moderators review, edit and approve before anything is posted publicly, then Hex handles RSVPs, sends reminders, adds the event to the server's Events tab and gives everyone who RSVPs a temporary role so the organiser can reach them with one mention. Review can be handed to a specific role, so event moderation does not require Manage Server.
-
Pokemon GO raids
/raidPost a raid screenshot and Hex reads the boss, gym and timer, opens a channel and a role for it, pings the people who joined, extends the timer when the lobby needs longer, and ends it by deleting the channel and role again.
/raid listshows what is running; admins set it up with/raid setup. -
Server statistics
/statsMessage, word, attachment and link counts per member, per channel and per day, with leaderboards and activity trends. Counts only - Hex never stores what anyone said. Servers can opt out of the cross-server lists with one command. The public Stats page shows the network live, and has a 3D mode: walk through the activity as a city of glowing bars, watch data stream between districts, and hunt spam bots among the towers, alone or with whoever else is on the page. It works on phones too.
-
Per-server controls
/commandsEvery feature above can be disabled for one server, one command, one group or one Discord role. Disabling a feature stops its automatic side too, not just its slash command: turn off
instagramand Instagram links are left alone as well. The most specific rule wins, so you can disablelinkfixand then enable onlyx. Nothing here is all-or-nothing, and the control system itself cannot be disabled by accident. -
Web control panel
/panelServer owners and administrators can run their servers from Hex Control instead of commands: the AutoMod and moderation pages (rules, cases, members, lockdown, history), per-server command settings and statistics. Send Hex a direct message that says
register(or use/panel register), the operator approves, and you get a one-time sign-in link to set your password. Forgot it? DMreset. You only ever see the servers you own or administer. -
Your data, your call
/privacyRun
/privacyin any server with Hex, or open the My data page, to see everything Hex keeps about you, download it as a ZIP file, stop Hex collecting statistics about you, or delete it all. Discord confirms who you are first, so nobody can look up or delete someone else's data by typing their ID. Every deletion comes with a receipt number. You can also switch on an anonymous name: other members see an alias such as Anon-K7Q2M9 instead of your Discord name in leaderboards, reposts, deals and feeds, in one server or all of them. Server settings cannot switch this command off.
Only in the Hex Discord
Hex goes wherever he is invited. These do not. They live on the Hex Discord server and nowhere else, so if you want them, you have to come to us.
-
H3w, Hex's AI cousin
Hex Discord onlyA second bot that runs its AI models on our own hardware instead of renting someone else's. Mention or reply to H3w and he answers from whichever local model is loaded. Every one of his commands starts with
/h3w, so he never gets mixed up with the other bots in the room. -
Images and video
Hex Discord only /h3w image /h3w videoDescribe a picture and H3w paints it with FLUX or SDXL; describe a scene and he makes a short clip with Wan 2.2. He can also build animated GIFs frame by frame. All of it is generated on our own GPUs.
-
Trivia
Hex Discord onlyTrivia games run from question packs, including a South Florida pack for people who think they know the area.
-
Weather radio warnings
Hex Discord onlyNOAA weather radio warnings, posted as readable text to the channels that subscribe, so you see the warning even when the radio is off.
-
Hazard alerts
Hex Discord onlyA watch on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding, snow and ice. Alerts can be set by ZIP code or county, with several alerts per channel and across channels, so each area gets only what matters to it.
More bots coming soon. H3w is the first, not the last. New bots show up on the Hex Discord before anywhere else, and some will stay there.
Command reference
Every slash command Hex registers, straight from the source. Availability depends on what your moderators have enabled and what permissions you hold.
Adding Hex to a server
Five steps. The third one is the one people skip and then file a bug about.
-
Invite the bot
Ask for an invite in the Hex Discord server, or use the link from your Hex operator. Hex asks only for the permissions it uses. Of Discord's three privileged intents it uses Message Content, uses Server Members only for three AutoMod checks, and never uses Presence. The privacy policy explains each one.
-
Give it a channel it can work in
Hex needs Send Messages, Embed Links and Attach Files wherever you want previews and reposts.
-
Grant Manage Messages for link repair
Replacing a broken link means deleting the original, and Discord only allows that with
Manage Messages. Without it Hex falls back to a reply and leaves your message in place. Run/linkfix statusin any channel to see exactly what is missing. -
Turn off what you do not want
/commands disabletakes a single command, a whole group, orall, and switches off the automatic side of that feature too:linkfixstops every link rewrite and repost, or pickx, instagram, facebook, tiktokorredditone at a time./commands hex-channel-addconfines the AI to chosen channels, and/commands statusshows every rule currently in force. -
Optional: switch on AutoMod
/automod enable, then/automod log-channelto pick where it reports. It stays in monitor mode until you run/automod mode, so leave it a few days and read the log first. To act on messages it needs Manage Messages, plus Moderate Members, Kick Members or Ban Members for the punishments you choose, and Hex's role must sit above the members it moderates. Staff are skipped by default; turn that off with/automod exempt-staffif you want to test with your own account. Prefer a web page? DM Hexregisterand run it all from the control panel.
Terms of use
Last updated 24 October 2026. Plain language, because the alternative helps nobody.
What you are agreeing to
By adding Hex to a Discord server, or by using its commands in a server where it is already present, you accept these terms. If you administer a server, you also accept them on behalf of that server's configuration choices. If you do not agree, remove the bot or stop using its commands.
The service is provided as-is
Hex is a hobby project run at somebody's own expense. It comes with no warranty of any kind and no uptime guarantee. It may go offline, lose queued work, restart in the middle of a download or be discontinued entirely, without notice. Do not build anything you care about on top of it.
To the maximum extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from your use of Hex - including lost messages, deleted originals, missed event reminders, inaccurate summaries or unavailable statistics.
Acceptable use
- Follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. They sit above these terms.
- Do not use Hex to harass anyone, to collect information about a person outside the server, or to redistribute another member's content without their agreement.
- Do not use it to fetch, repost or summarize material that is illegal where you or the server's members are.
- Do not attempt to overload the bot, script its commands in bulk, or use it as a general-purpose download or scraping service.
- Do not try to reach the administration panel, the host, or any service the bot talks to.
Content you send through it
You keep whatever rights you already had in the links, files and text you give Hex. You are responsible for having the right to share them. Hex only needs a temporary licence to process what you submit - download a video so it can repost it, read captions so it can summarize them - for as long as that job takes.
Third-party content and AI output
AI summaries and answers can be wrong, and confidently so.
Treat every YouTube summary, voice transcript and @Hex reply as a
first draft rather than a fact. Do not rely on any of it for medical, legal, financial or
safety decisions. Marketplace previews show what the listing page said when Hex read it;
prices and availability change without the preview updating. Movie and TV scores are read
from Rotten Tomatoes pages (and OMDb, where configured) at the moment you ask; Hex is not
affiliated with either. Showtimes come from a listings provider and theaters change them;
check with the theater before you leave the house.
Hex embeds and reposts material from sites it does not control. Their content is theirs, their accuracy is their own, and linking to something is not an endorsement of it.
Moderation and suspension
The operator may rate-limit, restrict or remove access for any server or member at any
time - usually for abuse, for load, or because something broke. Server moderators can disable
any part of Hex for their own server at any time using /commands.
AutoMod enforces rules that each server's own moderators choose and
switch on. Those moderators decide what counts as a violation and what happens next, and
they are responsible for those choices. The Hex operator does not review individual cases
and cannot overturn a timeout, kick or ban a server applied. Automated filters make
mistakes; if AutoMod catches you unfairly, talk to that server's moderators, who can clear
strikes with /automod pardon, or accept the appeal you can send from the DM Hex
gives you. AutoMod's optional AI review and the moderator toolkit are the same deal: the
server's moderators turned them on and act through them.
Linked AI accounts are yours. A key you link with /aikey is
used only for Hex AI chat, under your provider's own terms and pricing; you pay that
provider, not the operator, and you can remove it at any time. Linking a server account
means you are paying for other members' chats in that server, up to the cap you set.
Changes
These terms may change as features do. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this section. Continuing to use Hex after a change means accepting it.
Privacy policy
Last updated 26 October 2026. The short version: Hex counts, it does not keep, and you can see or delete what it does keep at any time. The live policy at iamastupidbot.com/privacy is generated from Hex's current settings and names who is responsible for your data and how to contact them; if the two ever differ, that page wins.
Hex does not store the text of your messages.
The statistics database holds numbers and identifiers - how many messages, lines, words, characters, attachments, links, mentions and replies - and has no column anywhere for message content, message bodies or the URLs you post. That is enforced by a test that fails the build if such a column ever appears.
How Hex reads messages (Discord intents)
Discord makes bots ask separately for three "privileged intents" that expose more than usual. This is exactly what Hex asks for, what it does with each, and what it does not do.
- Message Content - used
- Lets Hex see the text of messages in channels it can read. Hex needs it for everything
that works without a command: finding X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube,
marketplace and Rotten Tomatoes links to repair or preview, the
!rttext command, replying when you mention@Hex, and AutoMod checking messages against a server's rules. Each message is checked in memory as it arrives and the text is then discarded. It is not written to the database or the logs, not used to train any AI model, not sold, and not used for advertising or profiling. The only places message text goes are the ones listed below: an AutoMod excerpt in that server's own log channel, a message sent for AI review on the account the server chose, a short-lived@Hexconversation held in memory, and the provider that answers it. - Server Members - used for three AutoMod checks
- Lets Hex see members join and change their names. It is used only by AutoMod's new-account, raid and name-filter rules, and only in servers that switch those rules on. Hex does not store member lists or join history; the only record kept is a moderation case when one of those rules acts. Where this intent is not available, those three rules stay off and everything else works normally.
- Presence - not used
- Hex does not request it, and never sees anyone's online status, activity, or what they are playing or listening to.
What is stored, and for how long
- Activity counts
- Server, channel and user IDs with display names (or your alias, if you use an anonymous name), plus per-day and per-hour totals.
Counts only. Kept until the server runs
/statsopt-out or the operator clears the database. - Moderation cases
- Only in servers that switch AutoMod on. For each case: the member's ID and name, the channel, which rule was broken, what Hex did and the strike count, with a timestamp. The text of the message is not stored; an excerpt of up to 300 characters is posted to that server's own AutoMod log channel and nowhere else. Manual moderator actions (warnings, timeouts, bans, notes), appeals you send, and AI review verdicts (category and confidence, never the message) are kept in the same file. Deleted after 90 days by default, or sooner where the server sets it. Strikes expire on the schedule the server sets.
- AutoMod settings
- Each server's rules, blocked words list, exemptions and log channel, and who last changed them. Kept until the server changes or clears them.
- Movie and TV lookups
- Scores are cached in memory only for a few hours so repeat lookups are fast. Who asked is not recorded, beyond the anonymous trigger count in statistics.
- Movie showtimes
- Only if you save one with
/movies home: your ZIP code, linked to your account ID, kept until you change or clear it. Listings are cached for about 20 minutes so repeat lookups are fast; who asked is not recorded with them. - Linked AI accounts
- Only if you link one: the provider, model, address, a hint of the last characters of
the key, and the key itself encrypted at rest, plus daily usage counts. Removed with
/aikey remove, on the AI accounts page, or when you delete your data. - Panel access
- Only if you ask for Hex Control: your Discord ID, the servers you asked for, the
decision, and a password you choose (stored as a hash). Withdrawn with
/panel cancel; removed when the operator removes your access. - Deals
- Title, price, merchant, description, your submitted links, and who posted it.
Removable by you with
/deals remove; auto-expires on a schedule. - RSS feeds
- Feed URL, target channel, who added it, and hashes of already-posted items so
nothing is posted twice. Deleted with
/rss remove. - Feedback
- Your message, category, any attached images, and the server and account it came from. Visible to the central Hex administrators - not to your server's moderators.
- Events
- Event details you submit, the moderator decision, and RSVP responses.
- Conversation memory
- Recent
@Hexturns, held in memory only. Never written to disk or to logs, only shared with the people in that conversation, and discarded after a short window, on restart, or when you ask. Not kept at all if you have opted out. - Media files
- Videos, audio and captions are written to a temporary folder, uploaded to Discord, then deleted - including when the job fails partway through.
- Anonymous names
- Only if you turn one on: your choice for each server or for every server, and the alias Hex gave you in each server, linked to your account ID so your records stay yours. Kept until you turn it off or delete your data.
- Privacy requests
- If you opt out, your numeric Discord ID so Hex knows not to count you. For each deletion, a receipt number and a one-way keyed hash of your ID, never the ID itself.
- Operational logs
- Errors and activity, with API keys and secrets redacted before anything is written. Rotated, not kept forever.
Who your data reaches
Hex is a client for other services, and using a feature sends the relevant data to that feature's provider under their own privacy policy:
- Discord - everything, necessarily. Discord's privacy policy governs the platform itself.
- The operator's AI service - unless a linked account is in use, Hex AI runs on the same AI service as H3w, run by Hex's operator (or on Google Gemini, where the operator switches back to it). It receives your prompt, any attached image, and the text of your server's rules channel where one is set, so replies can follow those rules. Hex AI is the only feature that reads a rules channel, and it reads nothing else.
- The AI provider you or your server chose - when a linked account is in use, your Hex AI prompts go to that provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or the server address that was entered) instead of the operator's, under its own privacy policy. AutoMod AI review, where a server turns it on, sends the text of reviewed messages to the account that server chose.
- OpenAI - voice-note audio for transcription, and video captions for summaries.
- Showtime listings provider - the ZIP code, date and any movie or theater
name you give
/movies. Nothing else about you is sent with it. - Xweather - the location string you give
/weatheror/radar. - Rotten Tomatoes - the movie or show title you look up with
/rtor!rt, or the rottentomatoes.com link you posted. Nothing about you is sent with it. When the page cannot be read directly the same public link may go to a text-render service, and, where the operator has set a key, the title goes to OMDb. - Embed and preview providers - the public URL you posted, sent to fixvx, vxInstagram, Facebed, eBay, Chrono24, AliExpress, Buyee, Reddit or YouTube so the preview can be built.
- RSS publishers - a request from the host, for feeds a moderator subscribed.
Hex sells nothing, runs no advertising, sets no tracking cookies, and shares data with nobody beyond the providers listed above and whatever the law compels.
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, get a copy of it, have it deleted, or object to Hex collecting it. Under the GDPR and similar laws these are your rights of access, portability, erasure and objection. You do not need to ask anyone:
- In Discord - run
/privacy. Only you see the reply, which has Download, Delete and Stop collecting buttons. - On the web - open the My data page using the
one-time link from
/privacy, or sign in with Discord if the operator has turned that on. The link works once and expires after 10 minutes. Discord sign-in only reads your account ID and is disconnected straight afterwards.
Either way, Discord confirms who you are. Typing someone else's ID gets you nothing.
Anonymous name
In /privacy or on the My data page you can have Hex show other members an
alias such as Anon-K7Q2M9 instead of your Discord name, in one server or in
every server. It covers leaderboards and statistics, link and video reposts, voice-note
transcripts, and who added a deal or feed.
- No mix-ups. Every alias belongs to one person only. Hex checks each new alias against every alias it has ever issued, so two anonymous members never share one.
- Still yours. Behind the scenes your records stay tied to your account, so your numbers keep adding up and you can still see, download or delete all of it.
- A different alias in each server, so nobody can match you across servers by it.
- Nobody can look you up.
/stats userwill not show an anonymous member's statistics to anyone else, and your own lookup is private. - Not a way around moderation. Server moderators still see who you are in AutoMod logs, and feedback still reaches the operator under your account. Your own messages in Discord still show your Discord name; Discord controls that, not Hex.
What deleting does
- Statistics
- Deleted, for every server, channel and day. Hex then stops counting you unless you choose otherwise.
- Deals and feedback
- Deleted, along with their images and uploaded files.
- Events
- Your RSVPs and your pending or rejected events are deleted. Approved events other people are attending stay up, with the submitter shown as [deleted user].
- AI chat
- Your in-memory conversations are dropped. A linked AI account of your own is deleted with its usage; a server account you created stays with that server, with your name removed.
- RSS feeds
- Kept running for the server, with your name and ID removed.
- Anonymous names
- Your aliases are retired and never given to anyone else. If you stay anonymous, you get a fresh alias.
- Logs and audit trail
- Your ID is replaced with [erased].
- AutoMod records
- Strikes and cases are kept until they expire (90 days for cases by default), so breaking a server's rules and then deleting the record is not a way around moderation. The operator can choose to delete these too.
Messages Hex already posted in Discord, such as an approved event, stay in the channel; the server's moderators can remove them.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies at all. The My data and AI accounts pages use two short-lived cookies each that they need to keep you signed in and protect the sign-in: one lasting 20 minutes, and one lasting 10 minutes that is only used during Discord sign-in. All are strictly necessary, so there is no consent banner. The control panel has its own sign-in cookie for the operator and the server administrators it was opened to.
Cross-server statistics
Hex can rank participating servers against each other. Only a server's name,
aggregate totals and member count ever leave that server - never a member, a channel
or a message. Any moderator can withdraw the server with
/stats network-disable, and /stats network-status shows the
current setting.
Children
Discord requires users to be at least 13, or older where local law says so. Hex is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect their information.
Your choices
- Remove your own submissions -
/deals remove,/rss remove,/aikey remove. - Check individual records -
/stats user,/deals mine,/feedback mine. - Leave the network lists -
/stats network-disable, as a moderator. - Switch a feature off entirely -
/commands disable, as a moderator. - Stop moderation logging -
/automod disable, as a moderator. Existing cases age out on their own. - See, download or delete everything -
/privacy, or the My data page. - Stop Hex counting you - the Stop collecting button in
/privacy. - Hide your name - the Anonymous name menu in
/privacy, or the My data page.
Security
Data sits on the operator's own server. The administration panel binds to loopback by default, requires authentication, limits login attempts, protects every change with CSRF tokens, keeps an audit trail and never returns a stored secret to a browser. Privacy links are single-use and are stored only as a hash, and if Hex cannot load its opt-out list it stops recording statistics rather than risk counting someone who opted out. No system is perfect and none of this is a guarantee - assume anything you type into a Discord channel is, in the end, in a Discord channel.
Contact
For your own data, use /privacy. Other questions and corrections go through
/feedback submit in any server where Hex is present, which reaches the
administrators directly, or the privacy contact listed on the
live policy page. You can also ask
in the Hex Discord server.
